Socorro Salinas


Born in Caracas in 1933. She always carried her notebook and put in it every detail she saw in her travels, in her life and imagination. Her work reveals a personal and complex sight of the venezuelan daily life in public places. She’s one of the most significant figures of the plastic arts in Venezuela. She participated in six individual exhibitions, twenty collective exhibitions and thirty biennials and art galleries. Premio Bienal de Arte Popular Salvador Valero de Trujillo (1922); Honorable Mention of the Prix Suisse et Prix Europe de Peinture Primitive Moderne of Switzerland (1994) and Premio I Salón Bigott de Arte Popular (1999). She passed away in 2009.
