Max Velthuijs

He was born in The Hague (Netherlands) in 1923. Is a prize winner artist who has been writing and illustrating children’s books for three decades. In 2004 he received the Hans Christian Andersen award, the highest international acclaim for work as a children’s author and illustrator. He is perhaps best known for the Frog Series, of which Ekaré has published several titles. In his work, Velthuijs approaches difficult topics, such as death and love, with simple stories and a gentle humor.
