Carll Cneut was born in Wervicq, Belgium, in 1969. He studied Graphic Design at the Sint-Lucas Institute in Ghent. His first illustrated book was published in 1996, and since then it has been published in almost fourty countries and has received numerous awards. Highlights in Europe include the Bologna Book Fair Honourable Mention in 2001, the Prix Octogne in 2002 and the gold plaques of the Bratislava Illustration Biennial in 2003 and 2006. He is also nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2019. Carll also exhibits his paintings worldwide and teaches illustration at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent.
