Saddling his donkey, a man sets off into the desert lands of the Guajira. At nightfall, he hides from the dreaded Wanuluu, leaving his donkey to face the frightful spirit alone. After a cruel fight, the man abandons the wounded animal, thinking they will never meet again. But the Donkey changes into a prickly pear plant, tempting desert travelers with sweet fruit.
